FAQ

Straight answers.

  • Why do other web designers charge ten times more?

Most web designers charge more because building a site the traditional way takes weeks of manual work. Lightmorphic uses modern tooling to do in hours what used to take weeks, and passes the saving on to the client, same craft, a fraction of the labour.

  • What is a static website?

A static website is a set of plain HTML files served exactly as written, with no database, no plugins, and no server-side code running when someone visits. This makes it very fast and leaves almost nothing for an attacker to exploit. Lightmorphic builds every client site this way.

  • Why not WordPress?

WordPress runs on a database and plugins that require constant security updates: over 11,000 new WordPress-ecosystem vulnerabilities were catalogued in a single year, roughly 9 in 10 of them in plugins. Lightmorphic sites have no database and no plugins, so that entire attack surface does not exist.

  • Are the visitor numbers real people?

Yes. Search engines, AI crawlers, link previewers, and monitoring tools all visit your website, and most analytics count them as people. Ours filter that automated traffic out before it reaches your dashboard, so the number you see reflects humans. This matters most when you're small: on a site with 30 visits a month, bots can be the majority.

  • Do I need a cookie banner?

No. Lightmorphic's analytics collect no cookies and no personal data, so there is nothing to ask visitor consent for, and the site stays GDPR-friendly by design. Visitors are counted, not tracked.

  • What counts as a small change?

A small change is a quick edit such as updated text, an image swap, new opening hours, or a new team member, the kind of task that takes minutes, not days. Lightmorphic includes two small changes per month in every plan; larger work like a new page or redesign is quoted separately.

  • Who will I be dealing with?

Lightmorphic is a small team who build, host, and support every client site themselves and answer their own email. There is no account manager, ticket queue, or agency layer between the client and the person doing the work.

  • Why do SEO, AEO, and GEO all matter?

SEO (search engine optimisation) gets a business found on Google, still the largest source of website traffic today. AEO (answer engine optimisation) and GEO (generative engine optimisation) get a business found and recommended by AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews, which is how a growing share of people now search. Lightmorphic builds every site as plain-text, semantic HTML that satisfies all three at once.

  • How much does a website cost?

A Lightmorphic website costs £499 for the first year, covering design, build, hosting, analytics, the contact form, and Lightmorphic Chat, then £99 a year after that. £499 is a launch price available for one year from launch, until 30 June 2027. There are no add-on fees and no surprise invoices.

  • How long does it take?

A Lightmorphic website goes live within 3 working days of the client's specification being confirmed. Most of the lead time before that is spent agreeing what the site should say, not building it.

  • What's included?

Every Lightmorphic website includes hosting, privacy-first analytics, a spam-protected contact form, a blog and newsletter system, weekly visitor reports, the Lightmorphic Chat widget, and two small changes a month. Nothing extra needs to be bought or configured separately.

  • How do the blog and newsletter work?

Every site includes a blogging system and a newsletter system in the price. When you publish a post, it can be just a blog post on your site, or it can also go out to your email subscribers as a newsletter at the same time. You choose per post.

  • Why not just use Wix?

Wix and Squarespace charge £17 to £35 a month indefinitely for templates that are widely reused, and neither offers a way to export the site if a client leaves. Lightmorphic's £499 first year then £99 a year works out cheaper within year one, and the client owns the site outright.

  • Can I leave and take my site with me?

Yes. Lightmorphic hands over your complete site files, form submissions, and analytics at any time, on request, and you can host them anywhere. There is no lock-in: your site outlives the relationship.
